SEND

All teachers are teachers of SEND and therefore high-quality teaching in lessons is the first step to enabling all students to achieve. SEND support is a fundamental aspect of the school environment at The Castle Rock School. We endeavour to assist all students to be the best they can be and support them in overcoming their barriers. The SEND department consists of the SENDCOs Miss Amy Bowles and Ms Katie Hawker and a dedicated team of support staff.

The department works with teaching staff, parents and external agencies to enable all students to access learning in a way that is appropriate to them. We take a student-centred approach to support and ultimately involve the student and their family in every step of supporting and assessing their learning and development needs. Sometimes students will require extra assessment, support and/or agency interventions – details can be found in the SEND policy and information report. All students who are on the SEND register will have a student support plan to ensure that teachers are equipped with strategies that help them to learn (example below).

As a school, we endeavour to ensure the best possible opportunities for student’s future goals, to help them to become confident individuals living fulfilling lives, and make a successful transition to the next stage of education or training.

We are always happy to answer queries, provide support or discuss our provision. Email sensupport@castlerocksch.uk and one of our team will respond to your inquiry as soon as possible.
