Careers Education

Careers Education at The Castle Rock School
The Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance, (CEIAG), journey at The Castle Rock School, begins in year 7 and continues to the end of year 13 and beyond.
It is our vision that all our students leave The Castle Rock School with the skills, attitudes, qualities, behaviours and self-confidence to effectively enter either the labour market or Further Education, (FE) of their choice.
It is our duty to prepare students for the world of work, by offering them an enriched and stimulating curriculum, with opportunities that allow them to explore and develop their potential.
Careers education at The Castle Rock School, is not only weaved into our PSHE and extended curriculum but our core curriculum. This is so students can develop an understanding of how subject specialisms, combined appropriately, can lead into specific career pathways.

Our character values of perseverance, empathy, kindness, listening, independence and respect, underpin all that we do. Careers education is no exception. These values are used as a vehicle for developing students’ employability skills, thus promoting their lifelong happiness and well-being.
We believe our holistic careers strategy, is critical in ensuring our students are well equipped for the global, opaque and radically changing economy. We use the Gatsby benchmarks and continuous critical analysis, (using student voice, destination and achievement data), in order to understand how to improve this provision.
Working in partnership with the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP), Leicestershire Education Business Company, (LEBC), National Citizenship Service, (NCS) and the local authority also ensures we meet the needs of all our students.

Work Experience.
Now we are on the COVID ‘road to recovery’ we are once again eager to expand our contacts with local business and enterprise.
If you know of a local business that may be eligible to accommodate work experience for our year 10 and year 12 students please contact Mr Adam Thompson (our careers strategy lead), at
